Welcome to Nerd Nite Winston-Salem!
Who?
Meet your Co-Bosses
It’s no coincidence they have the same last name and here’s a hint – they’re not siblings
Matt Brady is here to make science feel a little smarter, a little weirder, and a lot more fun. He has spent nearly three decades blending science, storytelling, and pop culture—basically proving that learning sticks better when it involves superheroes, sci-fi, or the occasional existential cartoon.
With a background in biology and marine biology (plus some serious doctoral work in physiology/pharmacology), he’s taught, written, and spoken about science in just about every setting you can imagine. He’s the co-founder of TheScienceOf.org, wrote The Science of Rick and Morty, and has a habit of showing up wherever STEM and fandom collide.
These days, he’s known for connecting big science ideas to the stuff people already love—and for doing the hard work of being a physics and chemistry high schoolteacher by day and science communicator by night.
Shari Brady is here to spark curiosity and fully support your “wait…what?” moments. She has reimagined her career between science labs, classrooms, and now a children’s museum—basically anywhere curiosity gets a little chaotic.
She started with an M.S. in Marine Biology, then spent 12 years as a lab tech studying plant biochemistry, including how plants behave in microgravity (yes, space plants). After earning a Ph.D. in Science Education, she taught middle and high school science for 16 years—arguably the toughest crowd out there.
Now she’s the VP of Education and Engagement at Kaleideum, where she helps people accidentally learn things while having fun.
Where?

We will be hosted at Kaleideum, an amazing experiential learning museum that has an incredible adult following that simply loves all things nerdy. Located in the heart of downtown Winston-Salem at 120 West 3rd St.
